Fall Colors Workshops

Bishop Creek FlowingEach photography workshop begins Friday morning and concludes Sunday afternoon. Feel free to use whatever format you want to shoot. Even though he primarily uses digital SLRs, Dave owns everything from 8×10 to 35mm film cameras and speaks those languages fluently.

The days are filled with shooting and instruction. You’ll shoot in many of the places you have watched in the paper and on the Internet for years. You’ll experience just how a professional photographer approaches his subject and how a photographer shoots for the media.

This is a workshop and not a tour so be prepared for long days and a lot of light chasing. Read all the articles on The Sacramento Bee website SacBee.com/leaves especially the project details article. That will prepare you for what’s ahead. Canon is also featuring a page titled Quick Tip: Photographing Fall Foliage (2009) in their Canon Digital Learning Center. There will be photographers from all over the country with all skill levels. Some photographers will simply need to be shown a location and know what they want to do.

For those that want to start at the beginning or want to join in the ongoing instruction there will planned photographic exercises every day designed to teach you the art of crafting an outstanding photographic image. Please bring all camera equipment you own and your laptop. If you are in doubt, please feel free to email us. Check the “Accessories”, “Workshop Checklist” and “Filters” articles for ideas of what to bring .

Upon registration, we’ll email you complete instructions as to where to meet and a temporary itinerary depending on local color conditions.

Lodging, transportation and meals are the responsibility of each participant. We’ve organized it this way so that participants can choose camping or accommodations that suit their own style and budget. Experience says that many of our meals will be eaten together but feel free to retire to your hotel if you just need some quiet time. We will car pool to each venue to minimize the impact on each location.

You will learn and work as you have never before but in the end, you will be amazed at what you have accomplished. To register, use my Contact Form.
